    To be eligible for a scholarship for a two-year program, you must:

    A) Be currently enrolled in or entering a certificate or degree program which leads to a manufacturing career at a community/technical college, or trade school on a full-time basis (12 or more credit hours)

    B) Have a 2.5 GPA (or an 80% competency score)

    C) Submit an official high school or college transcript from the school you last attended for a complete semester

    To be eligible to apply for the Horatio Alger National Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

    Who: High School Seniors Who Participate in a CTE Program

    Amount: Presidential Scholars will receive a medallion at an expenses-paid ceremony in Washington, D.C.  

    The program is open to all high school seniors who participate in a CTE program, who will graduate between January and June 2020, and who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. Students at public, private, and home schools are eligible. This is not a scholarship program; it is a recognition program. Presidential Scholars will receive a medallion at an expenses-paid ceremony in Washington, D.C. The state may nominate up to five exemplary high school seniors.   • US Senate Youth Program

    Who:  Juniors and seniors who old an elected position in student government

    Amount:  $10,000

    This program is sponsored by the Federal Senate and underwritten by the Hearst Foundation.  It is open to juniors and seniors who old elected positions in student government for the entire academic year.  Students must be enrolled  in a public or private school.  State delegates will have outstanding leadership qualities and a strong commitment to public service.  They generally rant in the 1 percent of their states academically.  Each delegate receives a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship and an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., in March where two Alaska students will join 104 other delegates for Washington Week.

    If selected  to represent the state, the nominee must be available to attend the entire Washington Week from March 7-14.
