The primary responsibility of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District is to provide appropriate educational opportunities for full-time students enrolled in the District. However, the District encourages all District school-aged children who may be primarily enrolled in private school, correspondence and other programs of that nature to participate in District-sponsored educational opportunities as defined below.
Definition of a Student
A full-time Kenai Peninsula Borough School District student is one for whom the District receives full funding and is enrolled in a District-approved program.
Academic Access
Elementary Schools: Elementary-aged children primarily enrolled in private school, correspondence and other programs of that nature may enroll in music and/or physical education and other independent classes in a single District school. Based on adequate parental supervision and time and space availability, access to the library, computer lab and playground may be provided.
- Middle Schools: Children primarily enrolled in private school, correspondence and other programs of that nature may enroll in any course in a single middle school provided they meet course prerequisites. Based on adequate parental supervision and time and space availability, access to the library and computer lab may be provided.
- High Schools: Children primarily enrolled in private school, correspondence and other programs of that nature may enroll in any course in a single high school provided they meet course prerequisites. Based on adequate parental supervision and time and space availability, access to the library and computer lab may be provided.
Cocurricular Eligibility
The Kenai Peninsula Student Activity Association will establish cocurricular eligibility subject to Board approval.
