The School Board recognizes the instructional value in creating an end product as part of the learning process. Student projects may create products or services with resale value.
All rights to documents created under the direction of the District through student efforts remain with the District.
The School Board also recognizes that in making such products or services available, the potential for product liability must be addressed.
All projects designed to create either a component or completed product for public acquisition through sale, auction, donation, or other method must be approved by the Superintendent prior to public acquisition.
Prior to receipt of any item for which student labor was involved, the recipient must complete the Express Assumption of Risk Associated with the Purchase of Student Manufactured Products and Student Services form ( E 5134 ).
Products deemed to have a negligible potential for product liability risk may be excluded from the requirement to obtain a waiver of liability.
