CAREER EDUCATION SURVEY FOR GRADE 7
Pre and Post Test
Appreciation and Attitudes
- People should work to support themselves.
- Family life styles may be affected when family members all work outside the home.
- Fewer mothers have jobs outside the home now than 20 years ago.
Self
- Every individual has interests and abilities that could contribute to society.
- If I have a talent for something, I should try to explore what I could do with that talent.
- It is possible to dislike a job you do well.
Decision Making
- Today’s decisions affect your future.
- Decisions I make now might be as important as decisions I will make in the future.
- Seventh graders do not have to make important decisions.
Educational
- Because I haven’t as yet decided on a career, there is no connection between my school subjects and my future career.
- School subjects and extra-curricular activities are related to career clusters.
- I should develop as many skills as I can because I don’t know which ones I may need.
Career
- Individual values affect career choices.
- My attitude toward the work now has nothing to do with work attitude in the future.
- My attitude and values will influence the kind of work I do.
Economic
- Keeping a record of how I spend my money could help me be a better manager of that money.
- Seventh graders are too young to manage money.
- Planning my expenses to fit within my own personal budget isn’t too important to me at this age.
Skill
- Being well organized in school is not as important as it will be in my future job.
- My physical education classes could help me develop physical skills I could use both now and later.
- Being able to communicate both in speaking and writing is a necessary skill.
Employability
- My future employer will be interested in my school attendance record.
- Being on time for class has nothing to do with being successful in a job.
- My chances of getting a babysitting job or a paper route are improved by a record of dependability at home and at school.
