Veterans Day at K-Beach Elementary

"The annual Veterans Day Assembly at K-Beach is a wonderful way to recognize those who have served and serve our country. While November 11 is our established day for this recognition, the appreciation of our service men and women is year round."Dr. Steve Atwater, superintendent

Local veterans, kindergarten through sixth grade children, and staff from K-Beach Elementary gathered November 8, 2013, for their fifteenth annual Veterans Day assembly. Children who had a parent or relative in active military duty received a yellow ribbon, and Joann Riener, director of human resources, received a "Blue Star Mom" banner—recognition for her children in active duty. Each veteran spoke to the assembly, and almost unanimously thanked the kids for the meaningful letters from home that school children write. The assembly concluded with every student shaking the hand or high-fiving more than a dozen local veterans.
