The 25th Annual Tsalteshi Cross Country Invitational

Hundreds of athletes convened at Skyview Middle School on Saturday, August 23, 2014, to compete in one of the largest cross country races in the state. The 25th Annual Tsalteshi Cross Country Invitational delivered an excellent trail and competitive contenders to students representing twenty-five schools. Six KPBSD high schools including Homer High School, Kachemak-Selo School, Kenai Central High School, Nikiski Middle-High SchoolNikolaevsk School, and Soldotna High School competed. Before the final awards, a community race with about 300 runners followed the Open Boys, Open Girls, Girls Varsity, and Boys Varsity races. Very few opportunities exist for coaches, parents, siblings, and community members to join in and compete in the same event as students. Many of the student athletes were on the trails cheering on their families and friends calling out, “Payback!” "Come on coach! You can do it! Just one more hill!"

Hosted by Soldotna High School, a thank you extends to Skinny Raven Sports and New Balance for providing the timing, and the Kenai Peninsula Borough and the City of Soldotna for supporting Tsalteshi Trails. In addition, thank you to Tsalteshi Trails, Coca-Cola, Skyview Middle School, and the parents and volunteers from Soldotna High School and Kenai Central High School.
