Teachers Focus to Individualize Student Instruction

“Early release is a great opportunity for our teachers to focus on individual student needs in a structured setting.  Best practices are shared and cross-curricular lessons are developed to provide relevance in student learning. Overall, the time spent in teams allows our teachers to individualize student instruction and improve their practice.”
– Sean Dusek, superintendent

Six times in the new school year, KPBSD school days will end ninety minutes early for students, in order for teachers and instructional support staff to collaborate. A staff and parent survey will take place in April to evaluate the early release days.

For parents and students
On a mix of Wednesday and Friday, six times throughout the academic year, students will meet the minimum day requirement, leaving teachers with approximately ninety minutes of additional time to work on improvement strategies. The length of the school day on the following six days will be reduced by ninety minutes, for a total of nine hours during the 2014-2015 school year. On these early release dates, school will end ninety minutes (1.5 hours) earlier. Bus transportation will be adjusted by ninety minutes.
