KPBSD student council leaders convened in Homer for a day of learning, sharing ideas, and connecting with each other.
Congratulations to the following students on their election during the annual District-Wide Student Council meeting at Homer High School, on September 23, 2015
- Budget Review Committee - Jode Sparks, Soldotna High School
- Fine Arts Curriculum Committee - Raymon Machen-Grey, Kenai Central High School
- Instruction Materials Review Committee - Zach Stockton, Kenai Central High School
- Pre-Kindergarten Curriculum Committee - Hannah Drury, Kenai Central High School
- Wellness Advisory Committee- Micheal Swoboda, Homer High School
- World Languages Curriculum Committee - Paulyne Catacutan, Kenai Central High School
Student Representative to the KPBSD School Board - Brian Dusek, Soldotna High School
Ms. Katie Koester, the Homer City Manager, offered a keynote address, and elections took place for student representatives on district committees and the KPBSD Board of Education. Throughout the day everyone had a chance to attend three workshops: Parliamentary Procedure with Mrs. Francie Roberts; Violence Prevention by Green Dot; and Fundraising Do’s and Don’ts with Mrs. Kathy Beachy. The class presidents and their respective advisors met separately to talk about their schools and plans for the school year during the President’s Meeting. New friendships were formed, teams were strengthened, and student leaders learned more about how to be advocates and serve in their schools.
