Piano Keyboard Grades 7-12

This course includes beginning, intermediate, and advanced instruction in piano/keyboard technique and music reading, as well as in conducting related research.

    History and Culture

    Evaluation and Analysis
1-3   a. Develop scale, chord, and arpeggio technique.
1-3   b. Learn appropriate basic keyboard theory.
3, 41-3, 7, 81, 2, 4, 5 c. Analyze aural examples of a varied repertoire of piano music representing diverse genres and cultures by describing the uses of music and expressive devices.
1-3   d. Demonstrate extensive knowledge of music's technical vocabulary.
1-4 1, 2, 4 e. Identify and explain compositional devices and techniques used to provide unity, variety, tension, and release in musical work and give examples of other works that make similar uses of those devices and techniques.
