“Mind A-Mazes” is an annual challenge facilitated through the district Quest program for teams of students districtwide (grades 4-12) that focuses on problem solving, teamwork, communication, and creative thinking.  Teams of 3-4 students work on a ‘long-term’ challenge for roughly 4-5 weeks, and bring their devices to the district meet to share with other teams and judges.  Each team will get an opportunity to demonstrate their device to judges, who give them points for accomplishing certain tasks with their device.  This year’s challenge centers around the motion of a pendulum and the physics associated with its movement.  After the long-term devices are presented at the meet, all teams participate in a spontaneous problem which requires collaboration and problem solving in a very short timed challenge.   Last year, over 50 teams from around the district came to Soldotna to participate in the ‘Mind A-Mazes’ meet!
