    In the spirit of assisting the family they have decided to branch out and are offering scholarships to a 2020 High School graduate who either they or their family are actively involved in the Commercial Fishing/Maritime trade in the state of Alaska.  These scholarships will be awarded to assist in covering the costs of tuition, room and board, books, lab fees, etc. at an accredited college, university or approved vocational or trade school.

    Eight scholarships will be offered.  One applicant will be chosen from Kenai, Nikiski, Soldotna, Homer, and Seward.  The others will be chosen from the district's small schools.  The committee recommends that should a "Large" high school fail to submit any applications then that scholarship would be awarded to an additional "Small School" applicant.

  • Alaska's Kenai Peninsula Chapter Safari Club International Scholarship

    Amount:  $4,000 ($1,000 per year for 4 years)

    Alaska's Kenai Peninsula Chapter of Safari Club International is a non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife conservation, education, humanitarian efforts, and protecting our hunting heritage.  To further these goals, we will award a $4,000 scholarship to a graduation senior from any accredited public or private high school within the Kenai Peninsula Borough.  To be eligible, the student must be accepted into a program of wildlife management or research curriculum in a related field at an accredited college or university and enroll for a minimum of 12 semester hours or full-time equivalent.  A trade school or vocational program in a related discipline will be considered, and future teachers are eligible.

    Applicants for these scholarships must reside or have graduated from a high school within the Homer Foundation’s service area. This includes all communities on the Southern Kenai Peninsula from Ninilchik south including communities on the southern shore of Kachemak Bay.

    For your letters of recommendations, they may be sent directly via email to Lauren Seaton at assistant@homerfoundation.org by the adult writing the recommendation. Please give the adults the directions to include the student name applying and which scholarships the student is applying for in the subject line, (i.e. Letter of Rec for Joe Mariner for the Nursing Studies Scholarship). 

    We have also created a new Google Form to use if needed as an alternative to the fillable pdf for your Cover Letter. Note, that you will still need to submit one complete cover letter, either through the google form or the pdf for each scholarship you are applying.     Your personal statements and resumes will need to be attachments in an email to Lauren Seaton at assistant@homerfoundation.org. Be sure to note that it is still recommended for you to write a separate personal statement for each scholarship for which you are applying.

    Your counselors still have access to your transcripts so be in contact with them to have those available before the deadline as well.

  • Student Conservation Association - Summer Trail Conservation Crew

    SCA Alaska’s Summer Conservation Crews camp out for two to four weeks. Each team has eight crew members and two adult crew leaders. Projects may include trail building, environmental restoration, and invasive plants removal. Members cookout, share chores, and help sustain a healthy team. Members will also explore careers in land management and gain experience with camping, hiking, leadership, and team-building.

    Amount:  $1,000 - $5,000

    Who:  Freshman, Sophomore, Juniors, Seniors

    Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 each; with multiple winners to be selected.  Each award is a non-renewable, one-time award and is to be used exclusively to offset costs and fees related directly to the student's first year of higher post-secondary education at an accredited institution of he student's choosing within the United States.  In the even an underclassman is an award recipient, the monies will be held by the American College Foundation until the student completes high school and begins their higher education; at which time the award amount will be distributed.

    There will be one scholarship awarded to dependents of Cook Inlet Chapter Members in good standing for a four year degree or trade/vocational school or graduate program.
