New Teaching Talent - Aaron Lohmeyer

Soldotna Elementary Music Teacher Aaron Lohmeyer spent his summers on the Kenai when he was studying music at the University of Alaska- Fairbanks. After a couple of years in Fairbanks, he moved to Florida and obtained two masters degrees; one in saxophone performance and the other in music education, from Florida State University. Aaron always wanted to return to the Kenai and says that the teaching opportunity offered at KPBSD was a "dream placement".

Aaron, his wife, and their 8-month baby girl Clara moved to Soldotna, and the family says they thoroughly enjoy the community of Kenai/Soldotna. Aaron says that he has received a significant amount of support from his fellow music instructors in the district.  "I have wonderful instruments and a wonderful room to use. I feel that my school truly values music education," Aaron said. In his spare time Aaron is a member of a jazz ensemble, The Elite Nine Jazz Combo, based out of Seward.
