KPBSD students from central peninsula schools left school Wednesday, March 26, 2014, to attend the 2014 Peninsula Job Fair at the Job Center in Kenai, Alaska. Through a partnership with the Peninsula Job Center and KPBSD, employment specialists met with high school juniors and seniors from Kenai Alternative School, Kenai Central High School, Nikiski Middle-High School, Skyview High School, and Soldotna High School prior to the job fair to provide resume writing and interviewing skills. Attending the job fair served as a culminating activity for students.

Rachel O'Brien with the Peninsula Job Fair said, "This year's Job Fair was a huge success for both job seekers and employers. We exceeded job seeker participation by several hundred participants over previous years but an even bigger success was the increase in student participation." The number of students attending the job fair more than doubled this year, with 139 high school students in attendance. O'Brien was impressed and said, “The students were well prepared to speak with employers and exhibited professional behavior during their time at the job fair."
