INSTRUCTIONS
A plan of career education concepts, activities and test evaluation procedures.

STEP 1The teacher will administer the pre test to the class in September. The purpose of this test is to determine the students’ understanding of basic Career Education concepts.
STEP 2The pre test is scored and a summarization report of the class is completed by the teacher. Make two copies of the summarization report. (One copy to your principal and the second copy for your records.)
STEP 3The teacher then begins to introduce the prepared concepts and activities to the class, placing particular emphasis on the items most frequently missed on the pre test.
STEP 4The post test is administered in April. The purpose of this test is to determine if a change occurred from the previous testing.
STEP 5The post test is scored and a summarization report of the class is completed by the teacher. Make two copies of the summarization report. (One copy to your principal and the second copy for your records.

DIRECTIONS TO THE TEACHER

Each student will receive an answer sheet. The teacher and/or aide reads each statement to students (preferably in small groups) and the students circle yes or no. Observe markings closely.

Appreciation and Attitudes

  1. Does your family have fun doing things together?
  2. Do you feel bad when you have to help someone in your family?
  3. Do you care how other people in your family feel?

Self

  1. Do you have jobs at home and at school?
  2. Do you have to dress warmly in winter?
  3. Do you have to do the things the teacher asks you to do?

Decision Making

  1. Do you come to school when you are sick?
  2. Do you bother someone who has bothered you?
  3. Do you help to pick up the toys in the classroom?

Educational

  1. Is it important for you to go to school?
  2. Do you have to go to school?
  3. Do you go to school to learn many things?

Career

  1. Can your mother have a job away from home?
  2. Do fathers work at home and at their jobs?
  3. Do the teachers and the principal work at our school?

Economic

  1. Does your family need food and clothing more than they need candy?
  2. Does your family need a toy store more than a grocery store?
  3. Does your family need a place to live before they need a computer?

Skill

  1. Is school your job?
  2. Do you always try your best at school?
  3. Do you help keep your classroom clean?

Employability

  1. Is the job easier when we all help at clean up time?
  2. Do we get to play after our work is finished?
  3. Do we have to work together to do some jobs?
