INSTRUCTIONS
A plan of career education concepts, activities and test evaluation procedures.
STEP 1 | The teacher will administer the pre test to the class in September. The purpose of this test is to determine the students’ understanding of basic Career Education concepts. |
STEP 2 | The pre test is scored and a summarization report of the class is completed by the teacher. Make two copies of the summarization report. (One copy to your principal and the second copy for your records.) |
STEP 3 | The teacher then begins to introduce the prepared concepts and activities to the class, placing particular emphasis on the items most frequently missed on the pre test. |
STEP 4 | The post test is administered in April. The purpose of this test is to determine if a change occurred from the previous testing. |
STEP 5 | The post test is scored and a summarization report of the class is completed by the teacher. Make two copies of the summarization report. (One copy to your principal and the second copy for your records. |

Appreciation and Attitudes
- There are good things and bad things about most jobs.
- It’s more satisfying to do things for ourselves, than to help others.

Self
- A person should do what he wants whenever he wants.
- When I have a job to do I should do it to the best of my ability.
- It is important to be on time.
Decision Making
- We should always follow the leader no matter what he does.
- A game is more fun if everyone follows the rule.
- Free time should be used wisely.
Educational
- Completing work is important to all elementary students.
- When looking for information, it is better to look in more than one place.
- There are disadvantages in dropping out of school.
Career
- Art is only important if you are going to be an artist.
- A forest ranger should enjoy being outdoors.
- A blind person is capable of doing many things.
Economic
- Sometimes our country produces more than we can use.
- There is more opportunity for fishing today than there used to be.
- Fewer horses are needed for farming; therefore, there is less need for harness makers.
Skill
- The assembly line process allows us to produce large numbers of products.
- In division, a mistake in subtraction or multiplication makes a difference.
- To measure a room it is more accurate to “step-it-off” than to use a yardstick.
Employability
- A well-planned vacation is more successful than one that is not planned.
- In getting and keeping a job it is important what others think of you.
- Since many people drive a few miles an hour over the speed limit, it is all right for you to do it.
